An oak garden building with a cedar shingle roof
We’ve recently completed this oak garden building, bringing enclosed storage and an open log store together under a cedar shingle roof. The project also included a bespoke iroko gate on the driveway side.

Oak framing and practical storage
The oak posts and curved braces remain visible across the front of the building. Open bays sit alongside enclosed storage, giving the building a mix of useful spaces without hiding the timber frame.
The log store has a slatted timber base. Inside the open bay, the roof structure and timber boarding are exposed, carrying the same natural finish through from the outside.

Doors, ironmongery and a cedar shingle roof
The boarded double doors are finished with black strap hinges and ring handles. These details sit neatly against the oak frame and keep the front of the building simple.

Above, the cedar shingles follow the roof’s changes in shape. The layered roof covering, exposed oak and timber cladding give the building its character, with the joinery and materials doing the work.
A bespoke iroko gate
We also made the iroko gate on the driveway side of the building. Its vertical boards and darker timber give the entrance a distinct finish alongside the surrounding timber boundary.
